An employee was diagnosed with COVID-19 during first week of production
After originally announcing it would re-open on May 18, the Ford Hermosillo and Stamping plant in Hermosillo, Sonora resumed operations on Monday, June 1.
The same week, Ford announced that one of its employees at the facility had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Ford had originally planned to open all of its North America facilities on the same day, but decided that a staggered opening approach would be a smoother way to ramp up production.
The Hermosillo Ford plant produces the Lincoln MKZ and the Ford Fusion Police Interceptor sedan.
Ford Motor Company employs 188,000 workers worldwide. So far, at least 11 of its hourly workers have died from the coronavirus.
