But the state is in top 4 among job creators nationally
The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) announced that Sonora’s year-over-year job growth fell 27 percent in January, although the state was one of the leading job-creating states in the Republic of Mexico.
Sonora started the year with 9,510 jobs created in January, 14 percent of the 68,955 new positions created nationally.
The state ranked fourth among Mexico’s 32 states, following Baja California, Nuevo León and Jalisco.
Governor Claudia Pavlovich continues to push economic development in areas like aerospace and solar energy products manufacturing, logistics and natural gas. In October, a joint German-Sonoran venture will begin production of aerospace turbines and rocket components, employing 500 high-skilled workers.
