Women in Mining to Convene in Hermosillo for Global Forum

June 13–14, 2025 | Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico

Hermosillo will host the 3rd International Forum of Women in Mining, bringing together global leaders, academics, professionals, and students to promote inclusion, share experiences, and strengthen support networks in the mining sector.

Under the theme “Women Who Inspire, Transform, and Drive the Mining We Want,” the event—organized by the Sonora District of Women in Mining (WIM)—seeks to elevate the role of women in mining by creating safe spaces for learning and dialogue around equality and leadership.

Held at the AIMMGM Sonora headquarters, the two-day agenda includes:

  • Keynotes and panels with national and international leaders
  • Empowerment workshops (emotional and technical)
  • Dialogues on motherhood in mining, gender equity in Mexico, the U.S., and Canada
  • “Abriendo Brecha” award to women pioneers in mining and science
  • A cultural immersion day and a branding workshop designed for women professionals

This forum aligns with the International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM) and positions Sonora as a global example of inclusion and equity in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

The final day will be women-only, featuring artistic empowerment sessions and open discussions about how women envision the future of mining: sustainable, humane, and equal.
