Vulture City Ghost Town

Nestled in the rugged Arizona desert, Vulture City Ghost Town is a living tribute to the Wild West, built on the ruins of Arizona’s most productive gold mine. Originally founded in 1863 after Henry Wickenburg discovered a rich vein of gold, Vulture City grew into a thriving frontier town—complete with a cookhouse, saloons, blacksmith shop, brothel, general store, post office and the infamous Hanging Tree. At its peak, the town was home to nearly 5,000 residents and played a major role in shaping early Arizona history.

Vulture City Ghost Town offers guided and self-guided tours of the mining camp, and also offers its space as a wedding venue. Tours include history tours, as well as flashlight ghost tours, and student/homeschool educational tours. Vulture City also offers gold panning and blacksmithing classes. Different events are held throughout the open season (October to May), with Wild West comedy skits and gunfights every other weekend.
